Selecting the correct illumination type and direction can significantly affect image contrast and the visibility of surface details.
Ring lights can provide even incident illumination around the sample, while spot and directional lighting can create shadows that reveal surface texture. Transmitted lighting is suitable for specimens that need to be illuminated from underneath.
Selected Photonic segmented ring lights allow individual areas of the ring to be switched on or off and the active segments to be rotated. This provides both homogeneous and directional lighting options within one system.
For applications requiring greater control over the lighting angle, Photonic fibre-optic light sources can be used with flexible or gooseneck light guides. Different light-guide positions can produce a range of contrast effects, particularly when examining surfaces and samples with short working distances.
Photonic’s modular approach allows customers to configure and expand their illumination arrangement around their application and existing equipment.
