DAEIL DVIO-B Optical Breadboard

The DAEIL DVIO-B Optical Breadboard provides tabletop-class rigidity in a compact, low-profile format for applications where vibration control is important but a full-size optical table is not practical. It is designed for mounting on an existing bench or frame and is well suited to microscopes, lasers, interferometers, imaging systems and other vibration-sensitive optical or precision measurement equipment.

Compact platform for precision instruments

Available in magnetic and non-magnetic constructions, with multiple sizes and thicknesses to suit different instruments, payloads and laboratory layouts.

Measured Performance

DAEIL tests finished DVIO-B breadboards using impact measurements and surface-flatness checks. Performance varies with breadboard size and thickness, so measured records for the configuration being considered can be requested.

  • Compliance: 406 nm/N median on 1,200 × 900 × 100 mm production units.
  • First natural frequency: 250 Hz on the same 1,200 × 900 × 100 mm configuration.
  • Median measured flatness: 15 µm across 600 standard-size production units measured since March 2025.
  • Catalogue flatness specification: ±0.03 mm, based on the mean of eight measured surface zones.

DAEIL reports that increasing a 1,200 × 900 mm board from 50 mm to 100 mm thickness reduced measured compliance from 1,268 to 406 nm/N and increased the first natural frequency from 157 to 250 Hz, illustrating the benefit of greater thickness for demanding applications.

Construction

Core 0.25 mm foil honeycomb core; steel for magnetic versions or 304 stainless steel for non-magnetic versions
Honeycomb cell size 2.9 cm²
Top skin 4.0 mm 430-series ferromagnetic stainless steel, or 4.0 mm 304 non-magnetic stainless steel
Bottom skin 4.5 mm steel, or 4.5 mm 304 non-magnetic stainless steel
Side panels 2.0 mm steel or 304 stainless steel plate with highly damped composite wood
Core shear modulus 19,339 kgf/cm² (275,000 psi)
Damping Broadband damping through the bonded honeycomb sandwich construction, bonded interfaces and damped side walls

Mounting Surface

  • Thread: M6 × 1.0 (1/4-20 option).
  • Hole grid: 25 mm pitch / 1 inch square grid.
  • Edge distance: 37.5 mm.
  • Hole sealing: 21 mm deep cylindrical sealing cap on each mounting hole.
  • Surface flatness: ±0.03 mm.

Available Sizes

  • Width: 500–1,500 mm.
  • Depth: 400–1,200 mm.
  • Thickness: 25, 50 or 100 mm.
  • Construction: Magnetic or non-magnetic.

Typical Applications

  • Research and inspection microscopes
  • Wafer and semiconductor inspection systems
  • Precision balances and measurement equipment where a rigid mounting platform is required
  • Laser and optical experiments
  • Interferometry and imaging systems
  • Compact laboratory setups where a full optical table is impractical

Important: The DVIO-B is the breadboard platform itself. Where additional floor or bench vibration isolation is required, Auckland Scientific can recommend a compatible passive isolation platform, workstation or support system for the instrument and environment.

Select your preferred construction and thickness above, then provide the required width, depth, instrument details and approximate load when requesting a quotation.
