Soft, Even Illumination Across a Larger Area
The SCHOTT 500.100 Diffuse Light Panel is designed to provide broad, evenly distributed illumination from a compatible SCHOTT KL fibre-optic light source.
Unlike a concentrated spot or directional light guide, the diffuse panel spreads the incoming light across a larger area. This can help reduce hard shadows and create more uniform lighting across the specimen.
It is particularly useful for microscopy, imaging, quality control and inspection applications where a softer and more even illumination field is preferred.
The Diffuse Panel Requires a Light Guide
The SCHOTT 500.100 Diffuse Light Panel requires the 155.103 flexible single-branch light guide.
The 155.103 is an Ø8 mm × 1000 mm flexible fibre-optic light guide which transfers the illumination from the KL light source to the diffuse panel.
If you do not already own this light guide, choose either the Panel + Light Guide option or the Complete KL2500LED System.

SCHOTT KL2500LED
The SCHOTT KL2500LED is the recommended fibre-optic light source for the 500.100 Diffuse Light Panel.
Its high illumination output makes it particularly suitable for transferring light through the larger Ø8 mm fibre bundle used with the diffuse panel.
The KL2500LED accepts a range of SCHOTT fibre-optic light guides and illumination accessories, allowing the light source to be reused for other microscopy and inspection configurations.
How the System Works
The KL2500LED generates the illumination, which is transferred through the 155.103 fibre-optic light guide to the diffuse panel.
The panel then distributes the light over a broader area rather than projecting it from a small point source.
This helps create softer illumination with reduced directional shadowing.
