SCHOTT Transmitted Light Stage for KL Fibre Optic Illumination – 122.150
SCHOTT Transmitted Light Stage for KL Fibre Optic Illumination – 122.150
Fibre-optic transmitted-light stage for illuminating transparent and semi-transparent specimens from below.
Transmitted Illumination for Stereo Microscopy
The SCHOTT 122.150 Transmitted Light Stage converts a compatible KL fibre-optic illumination system into a transmitted-light arrangement for stereo microscopy.
Instead of illuminating the specimen from above, light is directed through the stage from below. This makes transmitted illumination particularly useful for transparent, translucent and thin specimens.
It can also be used for silhouette and dimensional inspection where a clearly defined specimen outline is required.
Key Features
Designed for integration into compatible microscope base plates.
Uses a compatible SCHOTT KL light source and fibre light guide.
Compatible with suitable fibre-optic light guides up to 5 mm diameter.
Can be combined with the SCHOTT 158.500 polarising filter attachment.

How Transmitted Illumination Works
A compatible fibre-optic light guide carries light from the SCHOTT KL light source to the transmitted-light stage.
The illumination then passes upward through the specimen towards the microscope objective.
Contrast is created by differences in light transmission or absorption within the specimen, making internal structures, edges and outlines easier to observe.
Ideal for Transparent & Translucent Specimens
Observe transparent or semi-transparent samples using illumination from below.
Inspect transparency, inclusions, edges and material features.
Useful for stereo microscopy of small translucent biological samples.
Produce clearly defined silhouettes for viewing the outline of opaque components.
Optional Polarised Transmitted Light
The stage can be combined with the SCHOTT 158.500 Polarising Filter Attachment.
The attachment is rotatable and provides an additional contrast technique for specimens where polarisation helps reveal structures that may be difficult to see using conventional transmitted illumination.
Microscope Base Adapters
SCHOTT offers adapters allowing the Ø84 mm transmitted-light stage to be installed into several common microscope base-plate openings.
Adapter for Ø90 mm base plate
Adapter for Ø100 mm base plate
Adapter for Ø120 mm base plate
Adapter for Ø180 mm base plate
The 122.150 is a transmitted-light stage rather than a self-contained illuminator.
A suitable SCHOTT KL fibre-optic light source and compatible light guide are required to provide illumination.
