SCHOTT VisiLED Transmitted Light Systems for Stereo Microscopy – Brightfield & Darkfield
SCHOTT VisiLED Transmitted Light Systems for Stereo Microscopy – Brightfield & Darkfield
Complete LED transmitted-light systems for brightfield and darkfield stereo microscopy, supplied with MC 1100 controller, power supply and UK mains lead.
Controlled Illumination from Below the Specimen
SCHOTT VisiLED transmitted-light stages provide LED illumination from below the specimen for stereo microscopy and inspection applications.
Two illumination techniques are available: brightfield transmitted light for transparent, translucent and silhouette-type samples, and darkfield transmitted light for revealing edges, particles and structures through oblique illumination.
Auckland Scientific supplies these as complete UK systems with the appropriate VisiLED stage, MC 1100 controller, power supply and UK mains lead.
Choose Brightfield or Darkfield
Light passes upwards through the specimen, producing conventional transmitted-light contrast for transparent and semi-transparent samples.
Oblique transmitted illumination emphasises edges, fine structures and particles against a darker background.
TLS-BF Brightfield Transmitted Light
SCHOTT P/N 400.400
The VisiLED TLS-BF is an Ø84 mm transmitted-light stage providing brightfield illumination from below the specimen.
Brightfield transmitted light is particularly useful where the specimen itself transmits light or where a clearly defined silhouette is required.
Typical examples include biological specimens, transparent plastics, thin materials, small components and dimensional inspection.
TLS-DF Darkfield Transmitted Light
SCHOTT P/N 400.350
The VisiLED TLS-DF is an Ø84 mm transmitted darkfield stage designed to provide oblique illumination from beneath the specimen.
Instead of illuminating the sample uniformly from directly below, darkfield illumination emphasises light scattered by edges, particles and surface or internal structures.
This can produce excellent contrast on specimens that are difficult to distinguish using conventional brightfield transmitted illumination.

Select the Correct Microscope Base Adapter
Both VisiLED transmitted-light stages have an Ø84 mm format. SCHOTT offers adapters for installation into commonly used stereo microscope base openings.
SCHOTT P/N 157.630
SCHOTT P/N 157.600
SCHOTT P/N 157.610
SCHOTT P/N 157.620
Choose either the brightfield or darkfield system and then select the microscope base diameter if an adapter is required.
If your microscope already accepts an Ø84 mm transmitted-light insert directly, select the system without an additional base adapter.
Optional Polarising Filter
SCHOTT P/N 158.500 is a rotatable polarising filter attachment for transmitted-light stages.
Polarised transmitted illumination can provide additional contrast for suitable specimens and materials and can help reveal structures that may be difficult to distinguish with conventional transmitted light.
Which Technique Should I Choose?
Transparent specimens, translucent materials, silhouettes, biological samples and general transmitted-light microscopy.
Fine edges, particles, inclusions, low-contrast structures and specimens where scattered light provides improved visibility.
Typical Applications
Observe transparent and semi-transparent specimens from below.
Inspect transparency, edges, inclusions and material features.
Produce clear specimen silhouettes for profile and outline inspection.
Darkfield can make small particles and edges highly visible.
Add alternative transmitted-light contrast techniques to stereo microscopy.
Repeatable LED illumination for routine inspection workflows.
SCHOTT VisiLED Modular System
The transmitted-light stages form part of the wider VisiLED modular illumination platform, which includes controllers, brightfield and darkfield ring lights, transmitted-light systems, mounting adapters, diffusers and polarisation accessories.

Auckland Scientific – Illumination Support
The correct transmitted-light configuration depends on the specimen, microscope base opening and contrast technique required.
Tell us your microscope model and what you are viewing and we can help select the appropriate brightfield or darkfield system, base adapter and polarisation accessories.
Each complete system includes the selected VisiLED transmitted-light stage, MC 1100 controller, controller power supply and UK power cord. Microscope base adapters and polarising accessories are supplied separately unless specifically included in the selected configuration. Product specifications are subject to manufacturer changes.
