SCHOTT Fibre Optic Light Guides for KL 1600 LED, KL 2500 LED & KL 1500 HAL
SCHOTT KL Gooseneck Fibre Optic Light Guides for Stereo Microscopy
Flexible self-supporting fibre-optic light guides for precise directional illumination with compatible SCHOTT KL light sources.
Directional Illumination Exactly Where You Need It
SCHOTT KL gooseneck light guides deliver fibre-optic illumination directly to the specimen while allowing the illumination direction and angle to be adjusted by hand.
The self-supporting gooseneck branches remain in the selected position, making them particularly useful for stereo microscopy and industrial inspection where directional lighting can reveal surface texture, edges and defects.
Single, double and triple-branch versions are available to suit different illumination requirements.
Available Gooseneck Light Guides
Single-Branch Gooseneck – P/N 154.101
Single self-supporting gooseneck branch for concentrated directional illumination.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm
Length: 600 mm
Double-Branch Gooseneck – P/N 154.202
Two independently positionable gooseneck branches allow illumination to be directed towards the specimen from two different angles.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm per branch
Length: 600 mm
Triple-Branch Gooseneck – P/N 154.302
Three independently adjustable branches provide greater control over illumination direction and shadow reduction around complex specimens.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm per branch
Length: 600 mm
Double-Branch Gooseneck for 32 mm Column – P/N 170.402
Special double-branch gooseneck configuration designed for mounting alongside a compatible 32 mm microscope column.
Important: this version requires SCHOTT adapter P/N 158.402.
Choosing the Number of Branches
Strong directional illumination and pronounced shadowing from one direction.
Illuminate from two directions to improve visibility and control shadows.
Greater control around complex or three-dimensional specimens.
Why Use Directional Illumination?
Directional illumination is particularly useful in stereo microscopy because the angle of the light can significantly change the appearance of surface detail.
Oblique illumination can make scratches, ridges and fine surface structure easier to see.
Adjust individual branches to create or reduce shadows as required.
Change the illumination angle to reduce distracting direct reflections.
Position the illumination around irregular specimens for improved observation.
These light guides are part of the SCHOTT KL fibre-optic system used with compatible light sources including:
- KL 1600 LED
- KL 2500 LED
- KL 1500 HAL
The KL 300 LED uses its own dedicated range of light guides. Please check the light-source model before ordering.
