SCHOTT Fibre Optic Light Guides for KL 300 LED
SCHOTT Fibre Optic Light Guides for KL 300 LED
Flexible, gooseneck and combination fibre-optic light guides for precise illumination with the SCHOTT KL 300 LED.
Choose the Illumination Geometry to Suit Your Specimen
SCHOTT fibre-optic light guides allow the KL 300 LED light source to be configured for different stereo microscopy and inspection applications.
The range includes self-supporting gooseneck guides for precise directional illumination, flexible guides for versatile positioning and a combination light guide designed to support both incident and transmitted-light arrangements.
SCHOTT microscopy light guides use PURAVIS® glass optical fibres, providing high white-light transmission with low colour shift.
Available KL 300 LED Light Guides
Single-Branch Gooseneck – P/N 170.101
Single self-supporting gooseneck guide for concentrated directional illumination.
Fibre bundle: Ø3.5 mm
Length: 500 mm
Double-Branch Gooseneck – P/N 170.202
Two independently positionable gooseneck branches allow illumination from different angles around the specimen.
Fibre bundle: Ø3.5 mm per branch
Length: 500 mm
Flexible Single-Branch – P/N 121.101
Compact flexible light guide for positioning illumination wherever it is required around the microscope.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm
Length: 600 mm
Flexible Single-Branch – P/N 171.101
Longer single-branch flexible guide for installations where greater reach is required.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm
Length: 1000 mm
Flexible Double-Branch – P/N 171.202
Two flexible branches provide illumination from two positions and allow greater freedom when arranging the microscope workspace.
Fibre bundle: Ø4.5 mm per branch
Length: 1000 mm
Combi Light Guide – P/N 120.402
Combination guide providing one flexible branch and one self-supporting gooseneck branch.
It can be used as part of a combined incident and transmitted-light arrangement with the SCHOTT 122.150 Transmitted Light Stage.
Flexible branch: Ø4.5 mm × 600 mm
Gooseneck branch: Ø3.5 mm × 500 mm
Which Type of Light Guide Do I Need?
Best where precise positioning is required and the guide needs to remain firmly in place.
Ideal where the light guide needs to be routed around equipment or repositioned frequently.
Allows illumination from two sides to control shadows and improve specimen visibility.
Supports more complex configurations including combined incident and transmitted illumination.
Illumination Direction Changes What You See
In stereo microscopy, changing the direction of illumination can significantly alter the visibility of surface features.
Oblique illumination helps reveal fine scratches, ridges and surface structure.
Two branches can illuminate the same specimen from opposing directions.
Adjusting illumination angle can help reduce troublesome direct reflections.
Directional light can make contours and depth easier to interpret.
These light guides use the dedicated connection for the KL 300 LED.
They should not be assumed to fit the KL 1600 LED, KL 2500 LED or KL 1500 HAL, which use a different standard light-guide connection.
These are passive fibre-optic light guides and require a compatible SCHOTT KL 300 LED light source to provide illumination.

SCHOTT Fibre-Optic Light Guides in Action
This SCHOTT video demonstrates how different fibre-optic incident-light arrangements affect specimen illumination and contrast in stereo microscopy.
Typical Applications
Flexible directional lighting for three-dimensional specimens.
Reveal scratches, edges and surface defects on manufactured components.
Precise illumination for PCB and small-component inspection.
Position cold light around specimens without placing the light source directly beside them.

Selecting the correct light guide can make a significant difference to specimen contrast.
Tell us what you are viewing and how your microscope is configured and we can help determine whether a flexible, gooseneck, double-branch or combination KL 300 LED light guide is most suitable.
KL 300 LED light source, transmitted-light stage and additional mounting accessories are supplied separately unless specifically included in the selected configuration. Product specifications are subject to manufacturer changes.
